Road tripping has always been my great like. I believe that staying at home means living in a routine, but nothing is familiar when you’re on the road. You drive past tiny houses in distant fields or the large red and black terrace houses in the city.
People selling fruit on the side of the road, the haunted face of an old man with a grey beard, and the teenagers with nose rings and ripped jeans chatting outside a bookshop – everything feels new. With the thrill of these experiences on the road, my interest in blogging first began.
Why blog?
My love of cars first took me out on the open road. In the heat of summer, I’d drive with the windows down and the wind blowing wild through my hair. At first, it was all about the feel of tires on tar and the sound of old rock on the radio. I’d drive along country roads where I could smell fresh grass or taste the dust in the air. Road tripping has always brought me a sense of freedom.
Sharing the feelings and images, I encountered on every trip struck a chord with me. I felt I needed a form of self-expression and a blog seemed like the best choice. Back then, becoming a writer was a new role to find me in.
Getting started
It took me a while to start writing posts and even longer to make them good. My first attempts required many edits, but I soon crafted my first guest posts when I got the knack. In this way, I started to connect with blogging communities.
Once I had a couple of months under my belt, I realized that time spent on writing was making me well and truly happy. As my writing skills increased, I noticed that the audience was willing to read about such local adventures. Still working as a passionate car mechanic, I keep writing as often as I can – it feels rewarding, inspires other travel enthusiasts, and helps to store my traveling memories.
Owning a blog
Most blogs don’t start out as a business. Bloggers frequently post because they are passionate about their topic, just like my road trips. If you have your own blog, you can work out when your audience is most responsive and send out posts at effective times, when people will be most likely to read your site.
Blogging takes up time and energy. Working during the day and then writing at night sometimes gets me tired, and many part-time bloggers function this way. But if you’re looking to earn full time from your blog, you can create affiliate links using Google AdSense.
You could also use your email subscriber list to market products. Businesses are willing to pay money to send product information to an exciting market. Your blog is also an opportunity to show your work and create a name for yourself as a writer.
Being a guest post author is also a good option for those who do not have the time and energy to start their own blog. This is what I chose to do for the time being, and I’m planning on writing for my own blog in the future. It’s best to start with baby steps and slowly build up a blogging career rather than jumping too fast, failing, and getting discouraged.
Taking it seriously
When you share your passion or expertise on a blog and do it well, your audience will trust you. In my articles, I provide information on breathtaking routes, the expenses involved in road-tripping, or helpful car apps. Readers of my articles know I’m offering up excellent, helpful knowledge, and they are eager to read my tips on what to prepare and pack for a long journey and how to drive safely through troubling mists.
Success is about a unique connection you should build with your audience. I was amazed at the massive positive feedback I received after sharing the story of how I used my choke when my accelerator cable snapped on a lonely cliff road.
Over time, some of my blogging experiences have grown to be profitable. If you can add value to your network, why not monetize? Then you may also be able to extend your writing beyond blogs, so keep searching for a niche market for your articles.
Making money as a blogger takes time and a lot of dedication. But if you love what you’re doing, stay true to yourself and your readers, and always keep a high quality of writing, then with patience and systematic work, you are likely to become a successful full-time blogger. Good luck!
